Later, I read more about the Carp and learned that they have pretty intense fans, never finished higher than third place in their first 25 years, and focus on developing younger players to be competitive on a tight budget. I decided the Hiroshima Carp were pretty cool.
All this is really just my introduction to the real purpose of this post, which is to share with you the catch of the century, made during a Yokohama BayStars/Hiroshima Carp game last week:
Go Carp!
Thank you for your blog about us and our favorite Carp. Although our Carp has NOT won pennants since early 1990's, we are really proud of our team.
ReplyDeleteAfter the world war 2nd, people in Hiroshima loved baseball and they saw ray of hope in our team. Because of the small market, the budget was always tight but people in Hiroshima made their efforts to keep our team in Hiroshima. Even kids collected money for the team. That's one of the reason why we love Carp.
We are glad to know you decided our Carp are cool. We are glad to know that you are interested in Hiroshima Carp.
We love you to know that we also love Twins. We keep wearing Denard Spann T-shirts in Japan. He is our favorite Twin and he is so gentle.
Win! Twins!!
